Annual Budget Series 2015
TTGPA, in collaboration with The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, Fundraising and Alumni Affairs, Economics Department and the Alumni Association – Trinidad & Tobago Chapter, hosted its Third Annual Breakfast with Professionals on Tuesday 16th June, 2015 at the Normandie Hotel and Conference Centre. Members of the public from the Business Sector and Professionals in all areas of Finance, Trade and Industry, as well as registered members of all the partners in this venture were in attendance. This event was the second in the Annual Budget Series for 2015.
The first event, The Student and Civil Society Forum which focuses on students, civil society and the general public, took place on Wednesday 22nd April 2015 at Daaga Hall at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus.
The 3rd Annual Breakfast Meeting aptly named “Budget 2016, Realities, Risks and Ramifications was guided by well-known panellists:
·Dr. Thackwray Driver, Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Chamber
·Ms. Marla Dukharan, Group Economist, RBC Caribbean
·Mrs. Diana Mahabir-Wyatt, Human Rights Activist/Managing Director PMSL Ltd
·Dr. Anthony Birchwood, Economist UWI.
The moderator for the panel was Dr. Ronald Ramkissoon, well respected Economist.
This year’s Breakfast with Professionals highlighted the views of experts in academia, finance, energy and civil society in order to direct the National Conversation and provide relevant and pertinent information that could guide nationals as they analyse and understand the National Budget for 2016. The panel recognized the challenging economic times which seemed inevitable given the global scenario and sought to provide concrete and honest opinions on the way forward.
The third event in the series was held on Thursday 15th October, 2015 at the Daaga Auditorium, UWI St. Augustine. As customary the panel consisted of experienced academics and professionals who gave their opinions on the National Budget 2015. Many of the attending students and members of the public were able to pose questions to the panellists who provided insightful and honest responses. The event was moderated by Dr. Darren Conrad and included:
