HANDBOOK OF PROFESSIONALS 2013/2014
The Trinidad and Tobago Group of Professional Associations’ first publication of the Handbook of Professionals provides an accurate, unique and comprehensive source of information on the Thousands of Professionals who are qualified to practise in Trinidad and Tobago as well as contact information for officers of the local Professional Associations.
The Handbook of Professionals is designed to assist business organizations, the public and non- governmental organizations when professionals are being sourced for use in projects, consultancy and for the development of the society as a whole, as well as within our Caricom market.
CARICOM Member States have committed to develop their services markets, including market for professional service, through a two prong approach of intra CARICOM market integration and liberalization with third states.
We are of the view that the coexistence of regulated and non-regulated services being provided by professionals within Trinidad and Tobago compromises the effectiveness of the services to the national community. The Handbook of Professionals is therefore a first step in ensuring that the public has access to a register of all professionals who are approved by their respective associations to practice.
This new Handbook is being distributed to all Professionals who are registered through their Professional Associations and will be available at all libraries, embassies of Trinidad and Tobago, Local and Regional Professional Associations and through the TTGPA’s office.
The Handbook of Professionals also includes a few Professional Associations who are not members of TTGPA but offer a professional service to clients and conform to our specific requirements which are:-
- They must ensure that their members satisfy the qualification, training and experience criteria for that profession.
- They must operate within an established code of ethics.
- They must meet our continuing professional development requirements which make it mandatory for professionals to keep up to date on development and new practices within their field.
The Distribution of the First Issue of the Handbook of Professionals 2013/2014 was held at the Blanchisseuse Room at the Courtyard By Marriott, Invaders Bay, Port of Spain, on Tuesday 2nd July, 2013 at 10.00am. The feature address was delivered by the Senator the Honourable Dr. Bhoendradatt Tewarie, Minister of Planning and Sustainable Development.
