PROFESSIONAL CULINARY CLASSICS (PCC)
“Champions Towards a Cause”
2009-2013
PCC was planned as a Culinary Competition among the professional organizations in Trinidad and Tobago. The primary goals of this project were to provide an opportunity for fostering friendship and camaraderie among professionals of different disciplines, to establish a means of providing much needed funds for institutional strengthening and outreach programmes to communities and to make a contribution to a selected charity. PCC was open to Members of the TTGPA, invited non-member associations and other corporate entities.
PCC combined the skills and spirit of volunteerism of the professional members of the Association with the support of corporate Trinidad and Tobago. It introduced an element of inter-organizational rivalry, setting it apart from similar events while raising funds as its major objective.
The event required each professional organization to mobilize its members, five of whom should be members who could cook or source persons who could cook. While it was initially intended for TTGPA Members, Chef Teams from other professional organizations and from corporate Trinidad and Tobago were soon regularly featured at the event. Feedback from patrons revealed that they were well pleased with the variety and quality of the food available as well as the décor and theme of the various Chef Team Booths. Judges for the competition were from the Food and Beverage Industry as well as other well-known personalities. And to top it off, all of this was held under the distinguished patronage of the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
During its five years, this event undoubtedly made a mark in the hearts and minds of patrons and competitors. Enquiries as to the return of the event continue to come in regularly to the Secretariat. And PCC and/or a version of it, is no doubt on the cards in the future.
